Smoke & Mirrors explores the unstable territory between what is seen, what is concealed, and what remains.
Across the works, figures emerge from shifting, atmospheric spaces in which identity, memory, and perception resist certainty. Familiar forms become psychologically charged, altered, obscured or displaced, suggesting the roles we inherit, assume and choose to inhabit, and the ways these become entangled with our sense of self.
At its core lies the uneasy territory between inheritance and agency: the forces that shape us before choice is possible, and the responsibility that emerges once it is. It considers the moments when choice itself becomes a burden, when no path is without cost, and the weight of what remains once choice has given way to consequence.
